The Oak

directed by

Lucian Pintilie

Bucharest, 1988. Nela, a young teacher, takes care of her father, a former Securitate colonel, now dying. He wants for his body to be used for medical research, but the University refuses, as their fridge is broken.
Nela leaves the capital city and gets to the village where he got the job at a school. She meets Mitică, a doctor at the local hospital who, like her, doesn't accept the compromises and is full of dreams and optimism. Them two disturb the life of everybody around them with their attitude, but they will manage to endure the life challenges as if they were touched by divine grace...
